Boris Saccone studierte Malerei an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste München, wo er von 2021—2023 Meisterschüler in der Klasse von Professor Gregor Hildebrandt war. Ihm wurde die Künstlerförderung des Cusanuswerks sowie der Leonhard und Ida Wolf-Gedächtnispreis für bildende Kunst (2021) verliehen und seine Werke waren bereits in zahlreichen Gruppenausstellungen im In- und Ausland zu sehen.
Unter Verwendung von unter anderem Kohle, Pastellkreide, Acryl-, Öl- und Sprühfarbe schafft Saccone unheimliche und doch fesselnde Sujets, in denen die Grenze zwischen Realität und Transzendenz verschwimmt. In seinen Gemälden bleibt Saccone dem Figürlichen durchwegs treu, versetzt es aber mit einem innovativen, abstrakten Kniff. Er experimentiert mit vereinfachten Formen, flächigem Farbauftrag und stilisierten Kompositionen, die uns scheinbar den Zugang verwehren und uns doch gleichzeitig zu sich ziehen. Ein ähnliches Paradoxon trifft auch auf Saccones Farbgebung zu: Wahrscheinlich nicht trotz, sondern gerade wegen der überwiegend kühlen Pastelltöne – kontrastiert mit fast comichaften schwarzen Umrissen laden die Gemälde zum Verweilen ein. Saccones rätselhafte Motive und atmosphärischen Bildräume hallen lange nach.

Boris Saccone graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Munich in 2023, where he studied Fine Arts as “Meisterschüler” in the class of Professor Gregor Hildebrandt. He is a recipient of the Artist Scholarship from Cusanuswerk and winner of the Leonard and Ida Wolf Memorial Prize (Leonhard und Ida Wolf-Gedächtnispreis) whose works have been exhibited in numerous group shows in Germany and abroad.
Using, among other materials, charcoal, pastel chalk, acrylic, oil and spray paint, Saccone creates uncanny yet enthralling paintings which blur the line between reality and transcendence. He remains consistently attached to figurative themes but combines them with an innovative, abstract twist, experimenting with flat, stylized surfaces, abstraction and planar constructions which deny our access at the same time as they draw us in. A similar paradox is true for Saccone’s use of color: It is likely not despite of but precisely because of their predominantly cool pastel tones – contrasted with almost cartoon-like black outlines – that the paintings urge us to linger and contemplate on their enigmatic motifs and the atmospheric visual spaces.
